Diagnostics to find solutions others simply cant.
Experienced automotive mechanics in the field of diagnostics are becoming somewhat of a dying breed. As the industry changes and technology moves forward a lot of older mechanics either don’t keep up with the trends or are simply replaced by younger mechanics. Older mechanics are infact being passed over for the less experienced and cheaper young graduates of auto repair tech colleges. This obviously means that years of experience and knowledge are also being shed in return. Besides years of experience, another important factor centers around automotive industry experience. Big differences exist between the knowledge gained from being a mechanic for a retail auto shop versus a wholesale mechanic. Retail mechanics are not concerned about end cost, because most are infact paid partly on commission. Wholesale and resale mechanics on the flip-side have to be very concious of cost because it effects the end profit of the car sale. This means that wholesale and retail mechanics generally spend more time diagnosing issues than actually hanging parts. In fact, most medium to large resale companies have dedicated diagnostic mechanics on staff that are extremely specialized.
DIY Performance Automotive mechanics have been in both industrys and understand that diagnostics is critical. Our mechanics previously had to diagnose upwards of 200 cars a month at a large resale/wholesale facility. Why is this important? Every make and model have common issues and repairs that mechanics pick up on and learn from. By being exposed to so many cars our mechanics are able to pin point issues without spending time experimenting with replacement parts. When you leave our shop we want you pleased with our service and your vehicle’s performance.
